AmeriDream’s Online Homebuyers Course Available in Spanish
PRESS RELEASE – GAITHERSBURG, Md., July 25 (U.S. Newswire)- In an effort to help Spanish-speaking individuals and families learn more about the homebuying process, AmeriDream, Inc., the nation’s leading affordable housing non-profit, today announced the launch of a Spanish-language version of its popular online homebuying course.
The course takes users through the entire process of buying a home – including finding the right type of home, calculating how much to spend, proper financial planning and budgeting, applying for a mortgage, dealing with maintenance and repairs, and issues surrounding foreclosure. At the end of each section, participants are required to correctly answer 70 percent of the review questions before advancing and earning an award certificate for taking the course. The course is available to registered home buyers on the AmeriDream Web site at http://www.ameridream.org.
According to most recent Census figures, just 48 percent of Hispanic individuals and families in the United States own homes, a number that falls well short of the overall national homeownership rate of 68 percent. A recent study by the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP), with whom AmeriDream has partnered to help increase homeownership rates in the Hispanic community, indicated that the greatest barrier to homeownership for members of the Hispanic community is a lack of education about the homebuying process.
“Purchasing a home can be a difficult process,” said AmeriDream President and CEO Ann Ashburn. “This course is designed to lessen that intimidation and give families and individuals the tools they need to become homeowners.”
The mission of AmeriDream, Inc., headquartered in Gaithersburg, MD, is to expand homeownership opportunities for underserved groups and promote the value of homeownership as the foundation for building strong communities and individual prosperity.
