It took my Mom the longest time to get a Chase Freedom Card which is one of my favorite credit cards because of the 5% cash back and 1% back on everything else. One of the biggest obstacles is that you have to go in manually and get your cash back. Chase does not automatically give it to you. Hey, it’s free money and at 5% so you have to work a little for it right?
I put together a How to guide in redeeming your cash back from Chase Ultimate Rewards from the Freedom Visa or MasterCard. The first thing you do is make sure you have signed up for the rewards program for that quarter then after a month or more in some cases check to see what your rewards balance is by logging into Chase.com. Once you are ready to redeem your rewards you sign in and scroll down to your Freedom branded credit card.
Click “Goto Ultimate Rewards”
You are now in the Ultimate Rewards screen.
You now have several options of redemption but the one that me and my mom like the most is the cash! So if you want cash back you simply click the “Get Cash” on the left side. There will be distractions such as the banners on the bottom and over to the right which sometimes say redeem now or such but I normally avoid them and just look on the left side.
You will now be taken to the page where Chase has calculated your rewards for you. You do not have to sit around waiting for a certain amount to redeem like some of the other credit card companies if you have say 5,714 points which easily convert 1:1 ratio to $57.14. With Citibank and programs such as Thank you there is no way you could redeem such a strange number to your account you would have to wait until you got 10,000 points or an even number. This is one neat thing about Ultimate Rewards from Chase Freedom’s branded card.
At this point you simply click on “Statement Credit” and then “Add to Cart”
Then you go to the next page where it asks you to confirm to process the statement credit. You then click on that button and the next screen confirms the credit to your account but keep in mind it takes around 3 business days to show up.
This is not as simple as it automatically putting your statement credits to your account but I like it this way because I can see what I am earning each month and get to spend more time appreciating what I have earned!
