Win Fuel for a Year from Shell Gas Stations
One of my biggest expenses right now happen to be what is on everyone’s mind which is the high gas prices. I have decided to go around and enter every possible contest I can when it comes to getting free fuel. This contest sounds promising. The “FUEL FOR A YEAR” Viral Peer Sharing Promotion from Shell Gas. They are the number one selling gasoline brand in the U.S. Shell is celebrating its NEW formula of Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines with this promotion so they are giving the pricey substance away.
One lucky winner will have an opportunity to protect their engine with free Shell Nitrogen Enriched Gasolines for a full year. By entering now you have a chance to win and also learn how you can increase your chances by the email they send you. The promotion ends 5/5/12 11:59:59 PM EDT. I only had to answer three questions before submitting my entry.
Here are some interesting terms from the contest. The Grand Prize is calculated on the average consumer’s yearly gasoline consumption of six hundred and thirty-six (636) gallons (4.5 fuel purchases per month multiply by 11.77 gallons of gasoline per purchase multiply by twelve (12) months) per year and at the present-day $3.59 (US) per gallon (consistent with the U.S Department of Energy statistics for regular grade gasoline as of February 20, 2012).
Fluctuations in gasoline prices after February 20, 2012 will not affect the calculation of the Grand Prize amount. The Grand Prize will be rounded up to the next fifty and be awarded in the form of forty six (46) $50.00 (US) Shell Gift Cards which may be used for the purchase of gasoline. Gift cards are subject to separate terms and conditions imposed by issuer.
Enter Contest and then come back and get a $200 Cash Rebate from a gas credit card. [Read more…]
AT&T Data Warnings going out to more customers
AT&T had a failed merger with T-Mobile and we are starting to think they are taking out the costs on their customers. Maybe they should pay their CEO and managers less and not punish their loyal customers. The number two carrier AT&T moved toward cashing in on rising wireless Internet traffic in 2010, when it became the first major U.S. carrier to stop offering unlimited data plans to new subscribers. This was devastating because it charged higher prices for greater data use. In January, it raised the prices of those tiered plans by as much as 33%. If this was not enough the behemoth Mother-Bell is telling the subscribers who were grandfathered into $30-a-month unlimited plans that their Internet download speeds will be cut back if they use more than three gigabytes of data a month. This amounts to about 10 hours of high-definition video according to the carrier but say someone is using Pandora or an online radio they listen to at work it will come faster than you think. The company claims that if you use your Wifi connection at home or work you can counter these charges and use less phone data but as much as we are paying we should not have to and AT&T needs a public outcry. We have got to stop this greedy corporation from stealing from us with these added fees. When they claim it is unlimited it should be nothing but unlimited.
Top 5 Free Sites for Samples
The internet has numerous websites and pages dedicated to providing their readers with current up to date information on what free samples are being offered and from where. Some sites provide links to the pages to sign up for the various free samples while other sites offer a variety of free samples available through sign up on their page. Both types of sites normally feature a sign up link for notification when they have free sample information. They will notify through email, facebook posts, twitter posts and some will notify through text messages.
Free samples from freebie sites can range from pet food to laundry detergent to food items to medicinal products. These samples vary in size and quantities. Sometimes the free sample is full-sized product item and other times it might be a sample pack containing a small example of the product. Often the freebie site samples come with product literature and coupons.

Many different stores offer a free sample section on their websites. www.walmart.com consistently has a good free sample page. Their page rapidly changes with different samples available. Other stores which have similar website pages are Target and Sam’s Club. With Sam’s Club, most free samples are reserved for members only.

$4 Generic Meds for Pets
Pet ownership comes with the responsibility of providing prescription medications for the pet when necessary. Many pet prescriptions can be expensive unless purchasing $4 generic meds for pets. Super store pharmacies offer various medications for pets as generics just as they offer for people.
Kroger, Walmart and Target, along with other pharmacies, will fill prescriptions written by licensed veterinarians for pet meds. These stores carry generic medications as well as the brand name ones. It is in the pet owner’s best interest to obtain a list of which meds are offered as generics and their prices. Taking this list to the vet will allow the vet to decide if there is a medication on the list which will efficiently treat the animal and then write a prescription for it.
While many generic prescriptions are $4, there are also other generic medications available for $10 and the name brand meds which are more expensive. Not all pharmacies offer the same generic medications. Obtaining a list from several different pharmacies will allow the owner to know where to locate a prescribed medication for the best price. Some stores offer price matching. If this is the case, taking a price list from one store to a preferred pharmacy can allow an owner to get a medication for a lower price. This is especially true if one store has a medication on a $10 generic list while another store has it on a $4 generic list.
Types of medications available as generics varies. Some of the more common ones are antibiotics. Tetracycline and Amoxicillin are two popular prescriptions which fall in the $4 generic price range at most pharmacies. Other common meds prescribed are Tramadol HCL for motion sickness and Prednisone for allergies and skin irritations. These medications are the same ones used for human prescriptions. Pets normally receive the same medication but just at lower doses than what their human owners would be prescribed.

Pet Owners in Uproar over United and Continental PetSafe Program
Starting March 3, United Airlines and its charter jets will change the way they transport your pet. And although the airline’s fees for transporting animals are in line with what other carriers charge, the change could end up costing pet owners thousands of dollars. The change in policy means pets will now be transported as cargo rather than checked luggage. Some military families living overseas are outraged by a new United Airlines policy that will require pets that can’t fly in the cabin to travel as cargo.
Why is this happening? Well it comes from a merger that was let through by US Government from the mega-airlines and this is what happens when two big corporations get together. This pet transport program is not new though it was already established on Continental known as “PetSafe.” This means your your loved pets can no longer go on board for the $250 it normally costs from U.S. destinations and some international travel. Military families may end up paying up to $1,500 having their pets flying as cargo. There are already several petitions online to get this policy reversed.
CITGO Visa Ending Long Run of 1% Cash Back Rebate Card
We were really surprised Citibank waited this long to end this dinosaur of a credit card. Several years ago it was my ultimate favorite credit card because of its pure one percent back and automatic no-hassle credit to the statement every month with no waiting period. The sad thing is Citibank really does not even have a card half this good right now but yet they are closing out this outdated card. The competing banks have better offers if you read further.
In a letter from Citibank:
As of February 29, 2012, Citibank, N.A. the issuer of the CITGO MasterCard and CITGO Visa, will discontinue these credit card programs. Your account will be closed on that date and you will no longer be able to use your account for purchases or other transactions. Please ensure that any companies you have authorized to bill to this account on a recurring basis are notified. You will continue to receive a monthly statement until any remaining balance is paid in full. Any rebates you have earned but have not redeemed as of February 29, 2012 will be applied as a credit on your statement in a future billing period.
The CITGO MasterCard and Citgo Visa credit card programs are being discontinued but the big bank is offering an alternative. Citibank is inviting you in the letter to apply for a CITGO Plus Card. The CITGO Plus Card is more of a gas card that is not used anywhere but CITGO stations. It does come with a 10% Rebate on CITGO purchases for 60 days after the opening of the account where you can earn up to $75. Although you would be better off applying for a Freedom Card and earning back 5% this quarter and be able to shop at any gas location.
