You took out student loans in order to finance your education, but now it’s time to start paying them off. If you aren’t sure where to begin sending those payments, it’s important to find an address before you end up defaulting on your student loan. The first place you should check is the loan servicer. The servicer should be able to provide you with contact information for your lender.
If you don’t know who your loan servicer is, or the servicer is unable to provide you with the payment information you need, there are several other places to look for help. It’s always a good idea to check with your school’s financial aid office for contact information. If you have a Federal Perkins loan, your financial aid office should have all the payment information you need.
Another great resource for finding your student loans is the National Student Loan Data System. This database contains information on federal student loans and Pell Grants. In order to use the loan tracking system, you need to provide personal information such as your social security number and birth date. In addition, you need to provide a federal PIN number. This is the same number used in the FAFSE process.
There are several other important resources for finding student loans. The National Student Loan Clearinghouse provides a free loan locator for Federal Family Education Loan Program participants. Elmnet also provides information for FFELP participants. Credit bureaus are also excellent resources for tracking down your student loans.
